LOVE, JOY, AND PEACE: Turning from Worry

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

THIS WEEK, PRACTICE replacing worry with prayer. Notice your concern, fear, and worry every time they appear, but do not immediately shut them off. Instead, turn them into specific requests; then release them to God. Relax into the peace of Christ guarding you, and keep on the lookout for answered prayers. If you need a tangible reminder to turn your mind from worry to prayer, consider putting an object in your pocket, like a coin, a paper clip, or perhaps a small cross. Each time you find yourself worrying, put your hand in your pocket to feel for the object and turn your mind to prayer.
