Weekly Practice

PATIENCE, KINDNESS, AND GOODNESS: Take a Resonate Walk

THIS WEEK, PLAN for an hour-long walk in an area of the city you are connected to in some way, whether it’s where you live, near your work, surrounding your church, or a place you walk or drive by frequently. As you walk, look and listen for people, things, sights, and smells that resonate with you. Make an effort to be aware and observant. You’re not walking to get somewhere; you’re walking to learn or feel something. Don’t be afraid to greet or ask questions of those you encounter, and listen for their answers. Throughout your walk use this prayer to help you resonate with God’s heart for this area: “God, help me to think your thoughts and feel your feelings for the people and places I see.” After the hour is up, take a few minutes to reflect on and/or journal your experience. How did God answer your prayer? Are you being invited to do anything as a result?
