Weekly Practice

PATIENCE, KINDNESS, AND GOODNESS: Intercession

GOD INVITES US to partner with him in his work; sometimes it is through actions, but it’s always through prayer. This week, practice intercession, which is praying for the good of another person. Follow these guidelines as you pray this week:

  • If you do not immediately know whom you should pray for, ask God to give you a name. Spend a few moments in silence to hear it.
  • Ask what God’s desires are for this person. Be aware that it might be different than what you desire. Again, take time to listen in silence.
  • Pray as Jesus taught us: for God’s desire and God’s kingdom to come in this person’s life.
  • Continue to pray for this person all week, maybe even setting aside a particular time each day to pray for her or him.
  • Ask the Lord if he wants you to share with this person how you have been praying for her or him. If so, write your prayer in a note. If not, continue praying in secret.

Have a blessed week!
