FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, AND SELF-CONTROL: Learning from Mary

“Mary responded, ‘Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.’‘”

Luke 1:46-48, NLT

MARY—THE TEENAGE, UNWED, illiterate mother of Jesus—exhibited tremendous courage in accepting God’s call on her life. This week, take time to reflect on her words of celebration. She risked her reputation, her well-being, her own dreams, and her entire future; yet her response is one of joy and not fear. What might the Spirit want to say to you through Mary’s courageous, faithful action?

Have a blessed week!
