EASTER SUNDAY: Cultivate Joy
Scripture: John 20:1-19-31
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.”
2 Corinthians 4:8—9, NLT (words from a persecuted leader of the church)
THOSE WHO FOLLOW the resurrected Christ follow the same rule he does: no locked door will keep him out. There are many Christians around the world who find locked doors on all sides, but that doesn’t stop them. While we mourn the hardships endured by brothers and sisters in areas of the world that are hostile to the gospel, we have much to learn from their emboldened, persistent witness. This week, spend time reading stories of these men and women through Voice of the Martyrs (www.voiceofthemartyrs.com). Invite the Holy Spirit to use their lives to teach and challenge you as you listen to them and pray for them. Pray that the resurrecting power of the gospel will not be stopped.
Have a blessed week!
