FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: Hospitality
Scripture: Acts 11:1-18
PETER WAS QUESTIONED by the Jerusalem leaders because he spent time where they thought he shouldn’t—in the home of a gentile (see Acts 10). What they didn’t understand was that the gospel was—and is!—for all people. This week, practice the fullness of gospel hospitality by creating space for others in your life. It may feel more comfortable to extend hospitality to those who are like us, but we don’t need the Spirit of God in order to do that. Ask and allow the Spirit to lead you where you wouldn’t go on your own. To practice this radically hospitable gospel way of life, go out of your way to spend time with someone you normally wouldn’t spend time with. Go to coffee or lunch with a coworker of a different ethnicity, invite a neighbor of a different religion over to dinner, or spend time with someone who has decidedly different political views than you.
Have a blessed week!
