PRACTICING THE LORD’S PRAYER
Margin
Scripture: “May your name be kept holy.” (Matthew 6:9c)
IN HIS BOOK Good and Beautiful God, James Bryan Smith argues that living with healthy margins is essential to a holy life. Many of us suffer from isolation, hurry, and tiredness, which are not holy at all. Jesus invites us into a way of holiness that is wholeness: rest for our bodies and restoration for our souls. This week, practice margin by creating empty space in each day of the week. If that seems impossible, consider some of these options:
- Plan to arrive at appointments ten minutes early rather than getting there exactly on time (or late).
- Cut out unnecessary entertainment activities.
- When creating your schedule, consider whether each activity is essential for your work or your family. Commit only to what is essential.
Have a blessed week!
