PRACTICING THE LORD’S PRAYER
Giving Daily Bread

Scripture: “Give us today the food we need.” (Matthew 6:11)

IT IS STRIKING that we are invited to pray for our bread. Within this collective request, there is room to pray alongside those who do not have food in their cupboards, money to buy it, or even a kitchen to cook it. If you already have enough daily bread for yourself (think: food, clothing, shelter, and other basic resources), ask the Lord to guide you this week so you can be a means of answering someone else’s prayer for daily bread. You might volunteer or donate to a food pantry, buy a hungry person food, or give away what you don’t need.
