Weekly Practice

FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS & SELF-CONTROL
Daily Silence

WHEN THERE IS constant noise available all around us, choosing silence is an act of self-control, and it is also a practice that helps us grow in gentleness. To practice silence, choose a time of day that will be free of interruptions, perhaps first thing in the morning. Set an alarm or timer so you do not have to watch the time. Sit in the silence for five full minutes, without reading, writing, or listening to anything. Do not be alarmed if your mind jumps around to a million different things during this time. Be persistent in putting these things to rest, making space for God to speak into your stillness. Be reminded of God’s presence, and ask for even greater awareness of the Spirit’s work within you.

Have a blessed week!
