FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
Sleep

Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11

POWER, FAME, AND comfort are enticing ways for all of us to escape the difficulties of being human. Yet, in the desert, Jesus shows us the way to make peace with the natural limitations of being human, rather than fighting against them. Our need for sleep is one of the greatest reminders that we are human, yet it is something we often fight. Whether we battle insomnia, work late into the night, or just hate lying in silence, most of us receive far less than the sleep we need. This week, practice sleep by doing one of the following:

  • Choose one day to sleep until you cannot sleep any longer
  • Go to bed when you first feel tired at night.
  • Take a nap during the day.
  • Schedule yourself to sleep for eight hours each night this week.

Receive sleep as a gift from your Creator, who has made you to be human.

Have a blessed week!
