Daily Scripture Reading

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

MOST OF US know we should practice humility; therefore, we rarely boast about our accomplishments in public. But we may find that the desire to be boastful is expressed in more subtle forms of self-promoting language and behavior. We want to make ourselves look good for others, and we often work hard to make sure we get credit when we think it is due. This week, resist the urge to remind others of your good work or good ideas. Instead, every time you feel inclined toward self-promotion, be reminded of the saving power of God, which comes to us in the form of a seemingly powerless and foolish cross. Use each opportunity you have to resist boasting to be grateful for and boast in God’s good work and ideas.

Have a blessed week!
