Sermon Title: “Bearing Suffering with a Blameless Life”
Weekly Practice
FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Pray Psalm 23
Scripture: John 1:10-16
SINCE WE DO not have experience being sheep, it can be hard to know what it means for Jesus to be our shepherd. This week, set aside at least thirty minutes to pray Psalm 23 as away to experience Jesus as a shepherd. As you read, imagine yourself as one of the sheep under the shepherd’s care. What does it feel like to be led to still waters, to be made to lie down in green grass, or to have someone restore your soul? What is it like to follow your shepherd through a place of danger, even death- but not be afraid? How do you respond to someone leading you like this? While you imagine, allow yourself to ask your shepherd questions as they come up. What do you want to know or say? What do you want to ask for? When you have asked all your questions, ask one more: Jesus, my Good Shepherd, what is it you want to do for me? Take time to listen and receive the care of your shepherd. After your prayer time is over, write down anything you want to remember from this experience.
Have a blessed week!
