Weekly Practice

LOVE, JOY, AND PEACE: Gratitude

THE PRACTICE OF being grateful for what we have is the greatest antidote to greed and our culture’s insatiable need for more. Gratitude is also inextricably linked to joy. When we take time to be grateful, we cultivate joy deep within ourselves. This week, practice gratitude in one of these ways:

• Set aside five minutes each day to recall one good gift you’ve been given and think on all that it has done for you. It may be a conversation with a friend, a thoughtful note, or even a meaningful experience with Scripture.
• Look for at least five things each day you are grateful for, and create a running list for the week.
• Choose one day to write as many thank-you notes as you can, to anyone who comes to mind.
