FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY: Let It Go

Scripture: Luke 4:22-30

IT IS PUZZLING to us that Jesus did not even try to convince the people of his hometown that he was right. Even at the direst moment, when they were about to kill him, he just passed right through the crowd without a word, continuing on his way. This week, take your cue from Jesus and let go of your desire to convince others of your opinions. Whenever someone takes offense at your words or disagrees with your actions, resist the urge to explain yourself or to persuade them of your viewpoint. Hear the person out, and be open to change if it is needed. If you are confident you are in the right, continue on your way without taking their opinions with you. Ask Jesus to grant perspective and wisdom to know which action is needed in each situation.
