Sermon Title: “Earthshattering Love”
Weekly Practice
FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT: Imaginative Prayer of Receiving the Sun
Scripture: John 12:1-8
JESUS WAS ABLE to give and receive love freely because he experienced God’s love without any barriers in his own life. This week, we will practice an imaginative prayer adapted from Jesuit priest Joseph Tetlow so that we may receive and reflect God’s love unhindered. Find a time when you can sit in the sunshine for at least thirty minutes. Imagine God as the sun and yourself as a mirror. Mirrors are not perfect; some lose silvering as they age, and others crack and chip. But all mirrors reflect light when they are pointed in the right direction. As you consider the condition and direction of your mirror, pray for the openness to receive all the love God wants to give, without any hindrances or barriers. After your time in prayer, you may want to journal your experience to recall it later.
Have a blessed week!
