PENTECOST SUNDAY
Silence
Scripture: Acts 2:1-21
BEFORE THE SOUND of mighty rushing wind and the cacophony of multiple languages being spoken at the same time, there was silence. The Spirit came in the quiet moments of the disciples’ waiting. This week we will also wait for the Holy Spirit as we practice five minutes of silence a day. Choose a time of day that will be free of interruptions, perhaps first thing in the morning. Set an alarm or timer so you do not have to watch the time. Sit in silence for five full minutes without reading, writing, or listening to anything. Do not be alarmed if your mind jumps around to a million different things during this time. Be persistent in putting these things to rest, making space for God to speak into your stillness. Be reminded of God’s presence, and ask for even greater awareness of the Spirit’s work in you.
Have a blessed week!
